I'm currently in San Jose doing a summer internship with Yahoo! Labs. During my first weekend here, I went up to visit friends in San Francisco, and then drove up to Napa together to enjoy some great food and wine. Wait, did I just say great wine, like a normal person?? I meant just great food. I hate wine, no matter how much I want to like it.
I swear there's something different about the light here in Napa. Even in midday, the bright sunlight seems wonderfully hazy instead of harsh.
First stop was Bouchon in Yountville, one of three Thomas Keller restaurants in Napa. We've been there once before, and the food was amazing, as usual. Surprisingly not too costly either.
These macaroons were big and tasty. And here is Vi, making them look super sexy too ; )
Brandon is trying to show how much he is enjoying his macaroon.
Just three hours after our lunch, we sat down for our second meal at Ubuntu, in Napa. For all you computer science nerds out there -- before you get too excited, the restaurant is named independently of the operating system. In swahili, Ubuntu means "community," or something along those lines.
We signed up for the 9-course dinner, since we had a good number of people. It actually took a couple of entrees before I realized that the restaurant is vegan!
Afterward, we headed back to San Francisco where I got to snap a couple of cool shots from my friend's rooftop on Valencia St.
I loved the houses there. Each one was uniquely designed and colored. It took a long time to walk down the street. I felt compelled to take a picture of almost every single house!
Final stop was Hog and Rocks for brunch, in the Mission district. It was really delicious.

The Goetta Florentine (bottom left, below) was my favorite. The pork patty is pan-fried, so it was super crispay and flavorful. The ham plate was also amazing -- their specialty. I would tell you which one was my favorite, but I can't remember the names : (
Thanks for the fun visit, SF. Will definitely be back soon : )
