Where do I even begin when it comes to writing about Cyndi and Alen? It's hard, especially when the beginning dates back almost 20 years ago. That's when I first met Cyndi. She was the cool new kid who had just moved from the east coast. We were in the third grade, and by some unexplainable yet strangely powerful, elementary schooler intuition, we knew we'd be best friends forever.
As all stories of unlikely friendships go, we weren't exactly similar. In my mind, she was this little ball of sunshine -- confident, outgoing, popular, and... slightly bossy ;) I was the quiet one -- reserved, nerdy, awkward, and shy. In high school, she was senior class council president; I, on the other hand, just wanted to make it out of that social nightmare alive. By some miracle of God, we stayed best friends throughout that, and beyond -- even when she went across country for college (while the rest of us stayed near home), even when she was the first to find the love of her life and get married (while the rest of contemplated awkwardly about whether or not we should break up with our boyfriends). Now, after almost 10 years of long-distance BFFness, Skype dates, and long emails, we're finally living in the same city; The City!
Of course, Cyndi is STILL that same ball of sunshine. Strong, positive, encouraging, a shoulder to lean on -- no matter the circumstance, she's quick to give thanks and point out the blessings in disguise. And four years ago, she met HER little ball of sunshine, Alen. As I hope you'll see below, Alen is one of the kindest, funniest, and most ENERGETIC people you will ever meet. I couldn't be happier for them as they celebrate their much deserved FOURTH wedding anniversary. Congratulations, and much love, you two :) I'm blessed to call you friends.
