Arshi is my very pretty roommate : ) I asked her to model for me to help me practice with some off-camera lighting. Lucky me she has some previous modeling experience.

Most of these photos were shot with two lights: A speedlight through a 60'' Phototek Softlighter (camera right, real close to the face) for more/less ambient light, and a speedlight through a make-shift snoot (camera left) to give a little bit of dimension to the face. All of the photos were shot in my (tiny) living room.

Off-camera flash has been one of the most difficult things to consistently do well, so thank you Arshi for allowing me this learning experience!
